401 Water Quality Certification Notice for the Installation of Scientific Measurement Equipment for Flows and Water Quality Data on the Mancos River, Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation
UMUT is planning to install staff gauges, pressure transducers and temperature and conductivity probes at three locations on the Mancos River on the Reservation. Installation will be conducted to comply with the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) Nationwide Permit (NWP) #5 for the installation of scientific measurement equipment: https://www.spa.usace.army.mil/Portals/16/docs/civilworks/regulatory/NWP/2017%20NWP/NW05-Scientific%20Measurement%20Devices.pdf?ver=2017-03-15-132809-170
Equipment will be secured to T-posts or existing posts or trees/rocks at each location, no dredge or fill will be introduced to the riparian area and no impacts to any species is anticipated. The project is considered to be in compliance with UMUT Water Quality Standards and will be authorized with a 401 water quality certification following the completion of the public comment period which is open though the end of August, 2020.
