Núchiú Co-op Project

Núchíú Co-op Project was selected and funded by the First Nations Development Institute's Colorado Pleateu Food Systems Capacity Buildigng Program, supporting the local food initiatives and food sovereignty efforts of three Colorado Pleateau tribal organizations in 2013 and 2014. Other Plateau tribal groups participated in this Program include:  Diné bé Iiná and N'dee Bikiyaa.

 

 


The Project's goal is to increase the Tribal food sovereignty.  Women of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe’s staff gathered to start Núchíú (People) Co-op and organized educational events in spring 2013 through spring 2015. These events included:

Seed School-hosted by Tribe and taught by Native Seeds/SEARCH

Farmers Markets-Organically grown food was brought to Towaoc Community in summers of 2013 and 2014 from Stubbon Farm in Mancos Colorado.
